Donnas R. Wampler

Aug. 2, 1923 - Apr. 15, 2012

Don, a beloved son, was born on August 2, 1923 in Wabash, Indiana to the late Elmer and Bessie (Collins) Wampler. He received exceptional care and passed away in the home of his loving son, Don Wampler, wife Rebecca and other family members. He was loved by all.

He was a World War II Veteran Jet Mechanic and proud to serve his country. He received his World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service, Marksman Badge and Carbine Bar. He was a member of the American Legion and affiliated with the Atwood Christian Fellowship Church.

He married a beautiful, caring, woman, Virginia Marillas Wampler on June 2, 1977 from the Philippines.
She preceded him in death and was accepted into the Lord’s arms on October 23, 2008.

He is survived by his three children; Don Wampler, wife Rebecca Wampler of Bourbon, IN, David Wampler of Wabash, IN and Shirley Ulery of New Haven, IN.
He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara and (Verl) Stellar of Wabash, IN, Dorcas and (Dallas) Hayes of Alexandria, IN, Marilyn and (Everett) Slagle of Pella, Iowa, and Bonitta Michaels of Kokomo, IN. He has one brother Jim Wampler of Wabash, IN, eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He spent his life working as an auto mechanic. There was never a car built the he could not fix or build from bottom up. After retirement he enjoyed building motorized bikes; both two seaters and four with his son Don. He also loved to go fishing and bragged about the big one that got away.

He was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Wampler, brother; Eugene Wampler, parents; Elmer and Bessie Wampler, son-in-law, Alan Ulery, brother-in-law, Bert Michaels.

In lieu of flowers; donations can be made to Right At Home Adult Care for services/ scholarship fund for other seniors who would like to live out their years in a home like setting just as dad was able to do.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Plymouth Hospice and all the workers involved in dad’s care especially dad’s primary nurse, Lori Osborn. To all the wonderful workers involved in dad’s care from Right At Home Adult Care in Bourbon, thank you. We could not have given him the exceptional care without all your help.

Friends and family may come to celebrate his life from 9 – 11 A.M. on Wednesday in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46504.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Padberg from Center for Hospice and Rev. Britt Meyer from Atwood Christian Fellowship Church officiating. The grave side services immediately following will be officiated by Pastor Dave Cripe of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Warsaw, IN.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery Bourbon, Indiana with Military Grave Side services.
